Welcome to Cordion. We care about your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and store it, and the rights you have over your information. We wrote this in straightforward language so it's easier to understand.

1. Summary — in plain words

Cordion is a location-first social mobile app that helps people form authentic connections based on real-world proximity and trust. Some features (Circles, Cross Paths, Zones, Veil Mode) rely on location data.

  • We collect only the information needed to provide the service, improve safety, and offer optional paid features.
  • You control most of the settings, including how and when your location is shared.
  • You can access, correct, delete, or export your personal data.
  • You can also limit processing for some uses.

2. Who we are

Cordion ("we", "us", "the Platform") is the operator of the Cordion mobile application. If you have questions, contact us at: support@cordion.app (or your legal contact address where applicable).

3. Scope

This policy applies to personal information collected through the Cordion app (mobile) and associated services, including in-app purchases, customer support, and marketing communications. It does not apply to third-party services or websites you access through the app.

4. What information we collect

We collect the following categories of data:

A. Account & profile information

Name, display name, username, email address, phone number (if provided), profile photo, bio and other profile fields.

B. Location data

Precise real-time location (GPS-level) when you enable location features like Cross Paths, Nearby feeds, or Zones. Approximate location (city, region) for basic location-based features if you give limited permission.

We collect location only with your explicit consent. You can revoke this permission any time in your device settings or from within Cordion.

C. Usage & device data

Device model, operating system, app version, unique device identifiers, IP address, language and locale, time zone, and crash logs. Actions you take in the app (posts, likes, messages, searches, and settings changes), timestamps, and interactions with other users.

D. Content you create and share

Posts, comments, messages (1:1 and circle messages), photos, and other user-generated content. Messages in private chats may be end-to-end encrypted when you enable that option.

E. Payment & transaction data

Purchase records for subscriptions, one-time payments, and virtual currency (Cords) transactions: last four digits of credit card (via payment processor), transaction IDs, receipts, and billing address when necessary. We do not store full card numbers—payments are processed by trusted third-party providers.

F. Support & communications

Emails or chat transcripts with our support team and feedback you submit.

G. Public & community data

Information from public posts, circle feeds, or content made visible to others according to your privacy settings.

5. How we use your information

We use data to provide, maintain, and improve Cordion:

Operate the service

Authenticate accounts, deliver location-based features (Nearby, Cross Paths, Zones), handle posts, and manage Circles.

Safety & moderation

Detect abuse, spam, or harmful behaviour; enforce our terms; and protect users (including automated systems and human reviewers).

Personalisation

Personalise feeds, recommendations, and ads (where applicable) according to your settings.

Payments & billing

Process purchases, manage subscriptions, and prevent fraud.

Customer support & research

Respond to requests and analyse app usage to improve features.

Legal & compliance

Comply with laws, resolve disputes, and protect legal rights.

We only use location data when you enable location features or give explicit permission.

6. Location data — details and controls

Location is critical to Cordion's core features. We will:

  • Ask for explicit permission before accessing precise device location.
  • Explain why we need location and how it will be used (for example, Cross Paths to notify you when you cross paths with someone within a chosen radius).
  • Only keep location for as long as necessary to provide the feature, and subject to your preferences (temporary, persistent, or never share).

Veil Mode

When you enable Veil Mode, your precise location is either not shared at all or blurred to a less precise level (as chosen). Veil Mode settings are visible in your privacy settings.

Background location

If you allow background location for features that run when the app isn't active, we will explain the tradeoffs and let you opt-in separately. You can revoke background permissions at any time.

7. Circles, Cross Paths, and Zones — special rules

Circles

Circle membership and circle posts are visible only to members unless you choose to make them public. Adding someone to a Circle does not automatically notify them unless you opt to.

Cross Paths

Cross Paths depend on stored location points. We keep cross-path data necessary for historical view and notifications and allow you to delete your Cross Paths history at any time.

Zones

Zones (places you follow or moderate) may store aggregated location data to operate safely. Zone data will be handled per the zone privacy settings and our retention policies.

8. Virtual currency (Cords) & transactions

Cords are a virtual currency used inside Cordion for in-app purchases, gifts, and premium content.

Cord purchases are processed by our payment partners and are non-refundable except as required by law or where a refund is granted at our discretion.

We will store transaction records and balances to maintain user accounts, prevent fraud, and comply with law.

In case of account termination for fraud or abuse, Cord balances may be forfeited consistent with our terms.

9. Sharing and third parties

We will not sell your personal information.

We may share information with:

Service providers: payment processors, hosting providers, analytics vendors, moderation platforms—only as necessary and under contractual data protection terms.
Legal requests: when required by law, court order, or government authority, or to protect our rights and users' safety.
Business transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, user data may be transferred. We will notify users when feasible and required by law.
Aggregated / anonymised data: we may publish anonymised, non-identifying insights.

When you share content publicly or with other users, others may copy or share it outside Cordion. Be mindful of sharing sensitive information.

10. Data retention and deletion

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide our services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

You can delete your account and all associated data directly from the app settings at any time, or request deletion by contacting us. Deletion requests will be processed promptly in accordance with applicable law; some logs or backups may persist for a limited time for legal or security reasons.

11. Access, correction, portability & objection

You have the right to:

Access & Export

Access your data and export it in a commonly used format.

Correct & Update

Request correction of inaccurate data and update your information.

Delete

Request deletion of your data subject to legal exceptions.

12. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your data (encryption in transit, secure servers, and access controls). However, no system is 100% secure—if we become aware of a breach that creates a risk to your rights, we will notify you and regulators as required by law.

13. Minors & age verification

Cordion is intended for users aged 13 and up. Minors under 13 are not allowed to create an account.

For users between 13 and 17, parental consent may be required depending on your country. We encourage parents and guardians to supervise their children's use.

We perform basic age checks during sign-up and may require additional verification if necessary.

14. International data transfers

Data may be stored and processed in countries other than your own. When we transfer data internationally, we take steps to safeguard it (standard contractual clauses, adequacy arrangements, or other lawful means).

15. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and local storage for functioning, analytics, and preferences. You can control cookie settings through your device and the app.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When changes are significant, we will provide notice (in-app or by email). The effective date at the top will reflect the most recent version.
